KDK Construction, LLC was co-founded by Joey Nelson and his father, Dave Nelson. Dave launched the company in March 2017 with more than 45 years of construction experience. In January 2018 he brought Joey on board from Jacobsen Construction; Dave ran the field while Joey managed the office. Their first job was a $25,000 park shelter and sidewalk for the City of South Jordan.

The company spent its first three years in the public sector, completing work for Utah universities, cities, school districts, and state agencies. Under Joey’s direction, KDK shifted fully to private work by the end of 2019.

With key hires like Jeff Lawson, the firm then posted multiple years of 100%+ growth and expanded across the Western United States. Today KDK is one of Utah’s premier restaurant contractors with hundreds of completed projects and a strong roster of repeat clients.

Dave’s legacy of hard work and accountability continues to shape the company he and Joey built.
